We are running two meal services called Nest Table every week, one at the north and the other at the south.
North Nest Table
We have started the Nest Table, a meal service program, at March of 2009 and kept doing it for 13 years. We have partnered up with Maplewood Presbyterian church in Edmonds to feed the homeless on every Friday night. Since pandemic has broken out, however, we have changed our service location to JKF Hygiene center, so called the Free Showers, located at 19726 64th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Here we do meal service and emergency service on every Tuesday and Friday during the lunch hours (12:00-2:00 pm). It is a first-come, first-served service. A good meal is not only nutritional to the physical body, but it also consoles the mind and spirit. It provides comfort to the sad and hurt. To those who are prejudiced, it provides confidence, to those who have been abandoned, it provides love, to those who are guilty, forgiveness, and those who are ill, it heals them. Lonely people get to experience friendliness, family and a sense of belonging. Because everyone receives God’s love through the meal, it is a meal of healing. Also it is a communion with Jesus.
South Nest Table
On the 1st of June in 2017 we have launched South Nest Table for the homeless people in Tacoma/Lakewood area. We have partnered up with Manitou Park Presbyterian church located at 6613 S. Cheyenne St., Tacoma, WA 98409. We open on every Thursday at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This place also has been closed due to the pandemic. However, we have been providing lunch box every Thursday during the lunch hours visiting some homeless camps around the South Tacoma areas.
Every first Thursday for South Nest Table and first Friday for North Nest Table of each month, we prepare a birthday cake and celebrate for the homeless people who have been born in that month.
At the Health desk a registered nurse provides a basic checkup and gives an advice for health. However, we hold it since pandemic.
SERVICE DESK(Provision of Necessities)
Doing the meal service, we have provided some necessities to the homeless for their hygiene and survival: tooth brush and paste, soap, shampoo, razor, socks, underwear, as well as emergency bus tickets or Orca card. During the winter season, we also provide gloves, hat, pancho, blanket, thermal underwear, hand warmer, and sleeping bag. If you want to donate, please contact us at anytime.
HAIR CUT SERVICE
We provide a Hair cut service at the Nest Tables when volunteers are available. We hold it since pandemic.
